Diálogo entre Susana Guerrero y Remedios Navarro

IV PLURI-IDENTITATS

Pluri-identitats invites us to look at the world through the eyes of these artists, to challenge stereotypes, discover different realities and engage in open and inclusive dialogue.

ESCRITO POR MUJERES

This exhibition, made entirely with the funds of the Museo del Escritor de Madrid, intended as a tribute to the work of so many women writers in the Spanish language during the 20th century, follows the trail left by these authors over the course of their lives.

La máquina de sangre

Since the starting point for this project was the dialogue between Navarro and Guerrero, it was crucial to show everything that was gradually built during their meetings.

Huellas en el tiempo. 25 años MUA

Our 25th anniversary is a good time to take a closer look at our collection and thank artists, collectors, UA governing teams and teaching staff for believing in the Museum and helping us build a collection that currently contains well over 2,000 works.

10th Residency Programme for Artistic Creation and Research

This is a special year, as we present the exhibition for our 10th Residency Programme. The residency period ran from 9 to 20 September. With this initiative, the UA Museum has become a major centre for creation and research in contemporary art. The five selected projects were conducted by Diego Balazs, Lorena Lorca, Lucía Mir Tort, Elisa Terroba and Brisa MP, a diverse group of artists who for a few days shared their experiences and worked very hard to finish the projects on display in the Museum’s Sempere Hall.

SAUVAGE de SILVIA SEMPERE

SAUVAGE is a project in which multiple research processes are intertwined to explore a central idea: The loss of the “wild condition” needed for the survival of many animal species on our planet.

WOMEN OF PRE-ROMAN ITALY IN THE COLLECTIONS OF THE SPANISH NATIONAL ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM

Sheds light on the lives of these women, their activities, the roles they played in their cultures, the way in which objects can help us discover more about them, and a methodology to study and provide an accurate picture of their experiences.

TELLING STORIES, VISUAL NARRATIVES. MUA COLLECTION

As every year, the Museum of the University of Alicante has renewed the exhibition of its collection by selecting a theme as a starting point to choose the pieces. On this occasion, the selected theme was pieces of art as a storyteller.

Entrevista a Ángel Fitor, exposición Mare Lucidum

Ángel Fitor (Alicante, 1973) is a photographer, photojournalist, professional scuba diver and naturalist specialising in the marine environment. Already at a very young age, a strong vocation led him to devote his entire life to spreading the natural, human and economic values linked to the sea.

MARE LUCIDUM, ÁNGEL FITOR

Mare Lucidum showcases the biological, plastic and symbolic beauty we can still find in the Mediterranean, while at the same time exploring some of the overwhelming problems facing this sea. Mare Lucidum encourages us to feel a sense of sheer wonder, to reflect on the pleasure derived from knowledge.

PLURI-IDENTITATS

The University of Alicante Museum (MUA) presents the 3rd Pluri-Identitats Visual Arts Contests, an initiative by the Office of the Vice President for Culture, Sports and Extracurricular Activities in partnership with the Office of the Vice President for Equality, Inclusion and Social Responsibility.

HOUSEMATES. SHARED SPACES

For the Housemates exhibition, the University of Alicante Museum has been transformed into a shared flat where graduates of the Miguel Hernández University Master’s Degree in Art Projects and Research (MUPIA), delivered on the Altea campus, can show their work. Each of the artists will temporarily live in a hypothetical room; these “housemates” will see how their differences give rise to a rich and diverse collective experience that invites us to reflect on coexistence and human relations in an ever more interconnected world that, nevertheless, becomes more and more individualised.

PANTA REI de Lucía Morate

Everything is landscape in Panta rei: the river, the mountains, the sky, the body. Nature is always flowing, and we are part of that cosmic eternity, together with birds, river algae or those small, lightweight stones. Everything flows – Panta rei – is the concept of existence introduced by Heraclitus in the 6th century BCE. A flowing existence, subject to the laws that govern the never-ending cycles of birth and death, the constant transition from darkness to light, a world not created by the gods.

PAGE BREAK. COLECCIÓN DE ARTE BANCO SABADELL

In recent years, a remarkable number of national and international artist’s books have become part of the Banco Sabadell Art Collection, giving rise to one of the few private collections of artist’s books in Spain. The exhibition Salto de página (“Page break”) takes us on a journey through this collection. The works on display are divided into five sections: historical background, artist’s books, book-objects, photo books and self-published books.

CINEMACROBACIAS de PABLO AULADELL

Acrobatics is the main key Auladell has been making use of as a professional illustrator, a sort of balance between projects that come up from the pure will or need (shared later with the readers, but those projects would have also been done without the prospect of being published) and the commissioned work (which, to a large extent, provides him with a livelihood and also makes the former possible).

8TH RESIDENCY PROGRAMME FOR ARTISTIC CREATION AND RESEARCH

Since its creation, the University of Alicante Museum (MUA) has remained committed to contemporary art. This led to the launch of its Residency Programme for Artistic Creation and Research in 2015. The primary aim of this public and international programme is to galvanise the artistic sector and promote creation and research in contemporary art. Within this programme, five projects are selected and receive funding. For two weeks, the resident artists must undertake their project within the MUA facilities, allowing them to work at this institution, become familiar with its dynamics and receive support from technical staff while giving shape to their projects. They also participate in meetings with professionals from the sector.
